Recycling Glass Container

Recycling Glass Bottles Container:

Glass containers were recycled at a rate of 38 percent in 1996. There are more than 500,000 tons of glass refillable containers in use. Nearly 650,000 tons of recovered glass was used in non-container applications such as glasphalt, road filler and fiberglass. Glass containers save 9 gallons of fuel (oil) for every ton of recycled glass. Recycling one glass bottle saves enough electricity to light a 100 watt bulb for four hours.

Some useful tips :

•  You always make sure that the glass you collect can be recycled and prepare it properly.
•  Remove lids and metal bottle collars.
•  Rinse containers to remove traces of food and beverages.
•  Dirty containers may produce odors and will attract insects and rodents.
•  Paper labels may be left on containers.
•  To protect yourself and workers at recycling centers, take care not to break glass containers you collect.

Glass Recycling

Glass Recycling:

Americans throw away enough glass bottles and jars every two weeks. Most bottles and jars contain at least 25% recycled glass. Glass never wears out — it can be recycled forever. We save over a ton of resources for every ton of glass recycled — 1,330 pounds of sand, 433 pounds of soda ash, 433 pounds of limestone, and 151 pounds of feldspar. A ton of glass produced from raw materials created 384 pounds of mining waste. Using 50% recycled glass cuts it by about 75%.We get 27.8 pounds of air pollution for every ton of new glass produced.

Glass recycling reduces pollution by 14-20%.  It saves 25-32% of the energy used to make glass. Every day, Americans recycle about 13 million glass jars and bottles. Germany recycles almost 40% of its glass.

Disadvantages of Recycling:Glass Bottles

Disadvantages of Glass Bottles Recycling

1. Glass recycling contains high costs for the business point of view as well as transportation point of view.
2. Glass must be sorted into colors to be recycled.
3. Most of the glass is used for the commercial purposes which is not to be recycled and ends up in landfills.
4. This process would cut deeply into the bottle manufacturing market and put people out of work.

Advantage of Recycling:Glass

Advantages of glass recycling

1. At the time of recycling glass. It uses less energy and creates less pollution.
2. Glass can be recycled to make new glass.

Benefits Of Recycling:Plastic

Benefits of Plastic Recycling

1. Recycled bottles provide an environmentally friendly source for making new products and substitutes recycled materials for new plastic.
2. Recycled plastic bottles make hundreds of everyday products, including fleece jackets, carpeting, and lumber for outdoor decking.
3. For every 1 ton of plastic that is recycled we save the equivalent of 2 people’s energy use for 1 year. Isn’t amazing

Recycling:Save Energy

Save Energy

Energy savings are a very important environmental benefit of recycling, because using energy requires the consumption of scarce fossil fuels and involve emissions of numerous air and water pollutants. Recycling aluminum has always been a sustainable practice because it saves landfill space. Recycling aluminum scrap saves enormous quantities of energy, otherwise required to make virgin aluminum.

Recycling just one can saves enough electricity to light a 100-watt bulb for 3½ hours.

What Is Recycling?

Recycling

Firstly, we know the meaning of Recycling. OK now you guys tell me what definition comes to your mind when you hear the word recycling? First definition comes in my mind is to convert the waste product into new material. I hope you people think the same or different but i know my thinking goes little bit match for your imagination.Right!

Now we know more about what exactly recycling mean: Recycling is the conversion of waste products into new materials, such as waste paper which can be converted into new paper goods. The new materials that have been converted must comply with the same safety legislation and health and hygiene regulations as products made from virgin materials.  We can only say a product has been recycled when it has been purchased and used again.

I hope now you know the meaning of RECYCLING

Recycling: Glass and Plastics

Recycling Glass and Plastics

The most common materials used in recycling are glass and plastics. In most cases, manufacturing from recycled materials requires less energy and results in a reduced environmental impact provided the recycled materials are collected and processed efficiently.

With a little bit of care much plastic can be recycled, and collection of plastics for recycling is increasing rapidly. In simple way to reduce the use of plastic is use “green” bags instead of plastic bags when you are grocery shopping. Every bit of plastic that has ever been manufactured is still in existence. A reusable grocery bag helps keep those plastic bags out of the landfills.

Glass is easy to recognize and recycle. But some glass bottles must not be mixed or recycled with other types of glass such as windows, light bulbs, mirrors, glass tableware, Pyrex or auto glass. To save environment use less bottles which is not recycled or mixed with other bottles.
